hydrostatics
Device demonstrates the result of setting water particles in rotary movement.
When the cylinder rotates quickly, all liquid inside it moves up the walls of the vessel. It’s the effect of centrifugal force that occurs in rotating systems and depends on rotation speed. While the vessel rotates, free surface of the liquid takes shape of a circular paraboloid.
Set the impeller in slow rotary movement by slowly turning the crank. Gradually increase the impeller’s rotation speed. Observe the liquid’s behavior.
