Phenomenon
Rotating impeller sets the nearest liquid particles in motion. Those particles then in turn move other molecules close to them – eventually the whole liquid reacts to the impeller’s rotation. A vortex is formed. Regular motion of the liquid, with velocity descending towards vessel walls, is called a laminar flow, and a chaotic motion, which occurs when you stop turning the crank, is an example of a turbulent flow.
How to use it
Set the impeller in slow rotary movement by slowly turning the crank. Gradually increase the impeller’s rotation speed. Observe the liquid’s behavior.
