XYLOPHONE

Description of the device

Xylophone belongs to a group of musical instruments called idiophones (specifically: struck idiophones). The instrument consists of a number of tuned bars made of hard wood.

Phenomenon

When you strike a bar, it vibrates. As a result, a sound wave is formed accordingly to the bar’s length. The shorter the bar, the higher the pitch.

How to use it

Strike one bar after another with a mallet. Every bar produces a different sound from a musical range. Xylophone is tuned within an octave.
