Description of the device

A disk painted in a black and white pattern – its style and size are specially designed so that while the disk spins, a specific visual trail can be observed. Spinning of the disk may cause colorful impressions depending on the style of the pattern and speed of rotation.

Image that reaches a human eye is not recorded immediately. If the disk spins very fast, different colors painted on the disk reach the eye so quickly they cannot be distinguished from one another. As a result, all the colors that reach the eye in a tenth of a second are interpreted as one signal.

How to use it

Take a look at the pattern on the still disk. Then start spinning the disk. Slowly increase the speed of rotation. What do you see? Try experimenting with different angular velocities, spin the disk in both directions.
